Nonsense. Even if it was correct, the GD lasted for only 3 years, then all these restrictive gov laws were signed to stomp on the recovery which then led to 1937-1938 crash. Anyway, the current depression will last for many years thanks to the much bigger debt which is imploding, gov stimuluses and monetary loosening of the last decade.

@fudgedogbannana Around 52% are either employed by the government or directly benefit from the government through contracts or welfare. Probably no direct correlation there, but people being fed by the beast with the bottomless stomach aren't likely to complain.

Mage you forgot to mention something.The Roaring Twenties were an era dominated by Republican presidents: Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover (1920 to 1933). Under their conservative economic philosophy of "leave it alone" markets were allowed to operate WITHOUT GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE. Taxes and regulation were SLASHED DRAMATICALLY, monopolies were allowed to form, and inequality of wealth and income reached record levels. This is what led to the GREAT DEPRESSION.
