We need to stop Ron Paul's threat of force against the Fed. Instead we should deregulate the Fed, unshackle Ben Bernanke and leave Bernanke free to act upon his own judgment about what to do with the nation's money.

A President Ron Paul would probably give us a "Monkey's Paw" situation: Every libertarian wish he grants results in unexpected bad consequences. "I wish to abolish the Fed and restore the magic gold standard." Poof! Massive deflation, depression, unemployment and hungry, violent mobs on the streets.

It wouldn't surprise me if some rich people have used RP as a puppet to try to discredit the Federal Reserve System. Why? They view the Fed as a crony capitalist deal which went to the "wrong" cronies instead of themselves. After a Pres. RP fucks everything up with his magical thinking about gold and leaves office, a future president and congress will have to create a new central bank to restore order, and give it to the guys who destroyed the old central bank.
