It's doesn't have to be gold to be a standard but throughout history gold has represented real money. We need a pegging mechanism and not just a printing press. Tieing the dollar to something tangible;ie. gold is a true way to represent monies. Gold is also not an endless commodity, it is limited and rare and perfect for the job.

Dr. Paul has mentioned that it would have to be converted in not only gold, but also some silver and other inelastic goods. Gold standard is really just like saying, "Hey, we need something to back the dollar so they can't overprint." I agree though, strictly a gold standard would be hard to accomplish.....but Dr. Paul has thought about that!

uhhh! if the world goes back 2 a gold standart wouldn't the people that own all the gold have all the power i mean some people have suggested that all the gold @ fort knox are gone! ohh well something 2 think about! bye bye dollar hello amero hope this doesn't last 2 long

Your write in of Ron Paul may not be counted. Check the laws in your state. I cannot write in Ron Paul, because in my stste it will not be counted.

Nope. I, as well as several other people I know have suggested this possibility. And as far as I can tell, things are unfolding just as many people have expected.

I believe voting libertarian will help advance the cause of liberty best and with enough votes it could possibly help them get into the 2012 debates....and who knows....maybe Ron will run on that ticket like he did in 1988. I have my reservations about the Constitution Party and my main channel explains those concerns. Thank you for your time!

You really shouldn't write in Ron Paul. I was telling people for the longest time to write him in, but if you look at the write in rules for the election, you will see that it is a wasted vote. In most states, the candidate must declare himself a write in in order for a vote to count. Besides, Ron Paul encouraged voters at a recent press conference to support third party candidates such as Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr. Personally, I'm leaning towards Barr.
