A government bailout is more the fault of the government than a corporation that willingly takes it. Who wouldn't take free money? They are in business to make money. GS is about 10% to blame. That why there should be more protests on capital hill.Wayne is just not arguing his position right.

@tomthefunky It was deregulation all the evidence points to deregulation and aggressive lending practices. And I would also like to point out that is was Bush who pushed the ownership society the hardest. In fact it was a hallmark of the administration that home ownership was at an all time high.watch?v=kNqQx7sjoS8It was washington that caused the crisis because they allowed wall street to become unregulated.

@thesparitan: Bush wouldn't have had to bail out the banks if Democrats didn't cause the housing crisis in the first place. TARP was an injection of cash into the banks to allow them to keep lending. It had to be done. If Democrats didn't pressure banks to give housing loans to people who didn't have credit, none of 700 billion would be needed to bail out the banks. Washington caused the problem, not Wall Street. |
